Not directly — but there is one route that works. The Verity mod is a Bedrock add-on, and the console editions of Minecraft (PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch) cannot install add-ons from outside the in-game Marketplace, where Verity is not listed. What consoles can do is join a cross-play world that already has the add-on installed — hosted from a phone, tablet, or Windows PC.
Why consoles can’t install the Verity add-on directly
All of these consoles run Minecraft Bedrock Edition, which is the right edition for the Verity mod — that part is not the problem. The problem is distribution. The Verity recreations are free community add-ons published on CurseForge and MCPEDL (the Verity mod overview lists every official page), and they install by opening a .mcaddon file. Console editions have no file import at all: the only content pipeline they have is the in-game Marketplace, and as of August 2026 there is no Verity listing there.
So any video or site promising a “direct Verity console download” is selling something that does not exist. There is no APK, no USB trick, and no Marketplace code — the add-on simply cannot be sideloaded onto a PS4, PS5, Xbox, or Switch.
The route that works: join a world that already has Verity
Bedrock’s cross-play is the loophole, and it is entirely legitimate. When you join a multiplayer world, Bedrock automatically downloads that world’s resource and behavior packs to your device — consoles included. That means a console player can experience the Verity mod in full, as long as someone else hosts it:
- A friend — or you, on a second device — installs the Verity add-on on a phone, tablet, or Windows PC. Our Bedrock install guide covers it step by step.
- The host creates a world with Verity’s behavior and resource packs applied and Beta APIs enabled — the toggle the mod needs, set on the world, not on any player’s device.
- Both players sign in with Microsoft accounts and friend each other. The console player joins the host’s world from the Friends tab.
- On first join, the packs download automatically. Verity spawns, chats, and turns on you exactly as it does for the host.
The host device has to stay in the game while console players are in the world — if the host quits, the world closes for everyone.
Does the Realms route work instead?
Generally no, and this catches a lot of people. Realms would be the obvious “always-on” way to share a world with console friends, but at the time of writing Realms does not support worlds with experimental toggles enabled — and the Verity add-on requires the Beta APIs experiment. A friend-hosted world is the practical option.
PS4, PS5, Xbox, Switch: any differences?
For the Verity mod, the story is identical on every console: no direct install, full playability via a shared world. The join flow, the automatic pack download, and the gameplay are the same. Which Bedrock version the host runs matters more — the Verity recreations need a recent release (see the requirements section of the Verity mod overview), so make sure the hosting device is updated before troubleshooting anything console-side.
Where installing Verity directly is supported
If you have any of these devices in the house, you can skip the workaround and run Verity natively:
- iOS, iPadOS, Android, Windows (Bedrock) — direct
.mcaddoninstall; follow the Bedrock guide. - Windows, macOS, Linux (Java Edition) — Verity JE, the officially licensed build with real AI chat; see the Java install guide.
Not sure which of the three Verity versions fits you? The BE vs JE comparison gives a direct verdict per player type. And if you are still wondering whether any of this is “the real mod from the videos” — that question has a full investigation of its own.
